Description
According to the Smithsonian Journeys Quarterly, this tomato is the wild ancestor of all the tomatoes we eat today, and still grows wild in northern Peru, southern Ecuador, and now here on the Hawaiian island of Moloka'i where I live. These tomatoes are no bigger than a shelled pea. You truly can't just eat one, because of the intense tomato flavor that pops into your mouth.

Of course, I needed to check out the food first in your collections, James {coming to noon here; feeling peckish} ;) …… the freshness, colours & composition in this image — all mouth-watering ; well done! ;))

I miss these so much. They used to grow wild behind my house in Kihei, especially after a rain. You are right, the intense flavor is incredible and there isn't anything else like it in the tomato world. Lovely presentation! L/F Featured in Hawaiiana. Aloha nui, James!
