Description
This 15x10 foot small tree, is beautiful when it's in full bloom in February, here on the Hawaiian island of Molokai. For obvious reasons, its common name is Starburst, or Clerodendrum quadriloculare, and is originally from the Eastern Hemisphere, native to New Guinea and the Philippines.
Luckily for me, I have one of the trees growing in my yard, where it enjoys our acidic, alkaline volcanic soil, and lots of sunshine and rain. This spectacular flowering species is also planted throughout South Florida and is noticed primarily in winter from January thru April, when it burst into bloom. Not only are its blooms incredible, but when not blooming, its large leaves are dark green on top and purple on the bottom, making it attractive all year.

Thanks Iarisa for all of you comments today. This is such a beautiful tree, nearing the end of its season. I have had people stop me and ask "what is that beautiful tree growing in your yard?" Stay healthy my friend! James
