Description
The lychee has a history and cultivation going back as far as 2000 BC according to records in China. The fresh fruit has a "delicate, whitish pulp" with a floral smell and a fragrant, sweet flavor. Since this perfume-like flavor is lost in the process of canning, the fruit is usually eaten fresh. LOVE lychee...don't eat them often enough - and yours look scrumptious. l/f
James Temple replied:
I never had them before I moved to Hawaii. Locals love them here on Moloka'i but they take them for granted. They grow on small trees in front of homes. Last month the trees were covered with red lychee. Lychee have an unusual texture and sweetness unlike anything else. Thanks RC!
