Description
This is an artists rendition of the strange looking tropical fruit, Rambutan. Rambutan (scientifically termed as Nephelium Lappaceumis) is a fruit that definitely features in the list of Most Exotic Fruits of Our Planet.
Not a lot of people know about this strange looking hairy fruit. However, some experts call it super fruit because of the many benefits its ingestion has. This fruit is related to the lychee. It is vermillion red on the outside while its inside is a translucent white, it is oval in shape and is generally one or two inches in length.
This fruit is said to be native to Malaysia and Indonesia, but it's found all over Southeastern Asia and here in Hawaii. The fruit has a thin, leather like skin layer with multiple tube-like structures sticking out of it like a creature from outer space. This is what happens when you let your imagination go wild!
