Description
Tahitian tiare, sometimes refered to as Gardenia tahitensis is also known as Tahitian gardenia or Tahitian tiare. (Tiare means flower in Tahitian.) It is the symbol of Tahiti but is found all over Hawaii. It is native to extreme southeastern Asia. Archaeological evidence leads experts to believe it is native to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands and was spread eastward across the South Pacific by admiring native peoples, eventually reaching the Society Islands (Tahiti). This plant has white flowers with a most heavenly scent, which is like no other.
