Description
One of the only coastal sand dune ecosystems left untouched by development in Hawaii, the Moomomi Preserve is home to a half-dozen endangered plants that cannot be found anywhere else on the planet. Its pristine coast is a breeding ground for green sea turtles, rare on other parts of the island, and the many white sand beaches are expansive and perpetually empty. Most beaches are rocky, however, and in many cases have nasty offshore currents, making them ill-suited for swimming or other aquatic activities.
