Description
This little 2 1/2 inch tall forest of mushrooms, covered in dew drops, came up in a pile of wood chips in the forrest behind my backyard. They seemed quite delicate with their lacy black caps and white stems.
After a little research online, I found that they are called 'Panaeolus subbalteatus' and are likely the most widespread hallucinogenic mushroom in the world as it has been found in Asia, S. America, N. America, and Europe plus here in Hawaii. It is also the third most grown psilocybin mushroom (magic mushroom) in Amsterdam.
Thank you very much, but my life has enough magic in it without the help of this tiny little hallucinogenic fungi.

Hey John, imagine my surprise when I found out that they were hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Fantastic macro James! You have indeed magically changed them from tiny mushrooms, to giant columns of some epic temple to the gods. Love it! lf
James Temple replied:
Thanks Heidi, the only way for me to get any lower would me to dig a hole and lay in it.

Wonderful find and excellent capture for a beautiful image.
James Temple replied:
These fragile little mushrooms were beautiful, who knew that they had such a following. Thanks Sharon!

What kind of mushrooms are? They look strange, are they edible? Great shot!
James Temple replied:
No idea what they are, they were only about 3 inches tall. I put my camera down in the wood chips to take the photo. You can see how large the water drops are. I loved the black stripes in their caps. Thanks for the comment!

Great shot James. The lighting is perfect it even picks up the dew drops running down the stems.
