Description
The Etlingera elatior, Red Torch Ginger, produces dramatic flowers on glossy cherry red bracts on very long stems (3 to 4 feet). As the bracts open up, the lower bracts curl down giving the appearance of flower petals. Most people think of the red bracts as the bloom, but the true flower are small yellow flowers that eventually poke out of the bracts as they age.
